Our Young People...

We at St Andrew’s believe that children and young people are a vital part of our community and need to be treated as such.
At St Andrew’s we work hard to ensure that children and families are not only welcome, but can contribute fully to our worshipping life.

Our junior church, Shining Lights, meets most Sunday mornings, and when there is no Shining Lights the worship is for all ages.
The whole church family worships together for the first 15 minutes and then the children leave the worship space
to participate in worship & learning at a more appropriate level.
We understand that children will scream, throw tantrums, run around and need their nappy changing and we wouldn’t want any parent feeling uncomfortable about their child behaving as a child.
We have a disabled toilet with a pull down changing unit for those untimely moments!

Although currently we do not have a staffed crèche we do have a carpeted area in the sanctuary equipped with toys, books and craft materials. It is our  hope to enable parents and their young children to feel comfortable and at home within the worshipping community

Our group for young people aged 11+ meet in their dedicated room to explore issues of faith in relation to the pressures and opportunities of being a teenager today.

Light Seekers is a Christian youth group for young people aged between 9-16. It meets on the first Wednesday of each month at St Andrew’s from 7-8.30pm. It has committed staff and an excellent program. Light Seekers tries to develop young people’s understanding of the Christian faith and explores such possibilities with young people who regularly attend church and those who do not

Shining Lights uses a variety of teaching techniques to enable some of the youngest members of our congregation (2-11) to explore and respond to the biblical stories that help to form the foundation of our faith
